Tire Max
The Challenge
Having opened his first retail tire outlet, Max wanted to gain loyalty and provide consistent communication as he expanded his stores from 1 to 2, to 4, and then to 19.
The Solution
"Max understood the importance of building a positive culture and maintaining the same customer experience across all locations. “We want the fries to taste the same at all locations”, said Max. And so, he would implement systems and processes across all locations with metrics to measure their effectiveness.
In 2019, Max acquired his 4th location and within a few months the pandemic hit. In the beginning Tire Max struggled like all businesses, but with confident leadership and Max’s relentless pursuit to find ways to improves his business, Tire Max successfully made it thru and acquired a 5th location.
The business was growing, but it began to expose an area for Max to improve: the effective communication skills of his employees. Acquiring more stores meant more employees and more customers, which meant more conversations were taking place. He began to see a wide gap in the communication skills of his employees. Some were excellent with customers on the phone or in-person, and others struggled to close a deal or book an appointment. He needed an effective communication model to teach his employees, and a system to manage, measure and report on the skillset of his employees."
The Results
"In 2020, Max invested in the development of his people and enrolled three of his stores into Power Sales Training. He now had an effective communication model that was easy to implement and provided a simple stair-stepped approach to improve the conversation skills of his employees. Within a few months he noticed a positive shift in the culture. His employees started to show up to work and in all areas of their life with a new sense of confidence. The fundamentals taught in Power Sales Training are deeply rooted in the Language of Commitment and portraying a message that is positive. Tire Max saw results in all areas of the business; building customer loyalty, increased sales, and reducing stress for everyone. Max and his team opened a 6th location in 2021 and set an aggressive 4-year financial goal which they are on pace to shatter in 3 years due to the impact that Power Sales Training is having.
Jonathon Fowlkes, General Manager of Tire Max said, “Power Sales Training not only gave us the ability to have consistent verbiage across all locations; but it has shortened phone calls because we are setting appointments and closing more deals faster because we get to the meat and potatoes of the conversation ALOT quicker. It has provided a defined process with measurable metrics and reporting that allows us to know our employee’s closing % and identify areas for improvement.”"

SameDay Automotive
The Challenge
Danny Smith started SameDay Tire & Automotive in 1997 and grew it into a successful 5 store operation over the course of 20 years. He was a command and control manager, “It’s my way or the highway!” was his motto, so he burned through employees pretty quickly if they couldn’t handle the pressure. He ruled his
business with a tough guy approach that would yield a moderate 3% - 5% growth annually.
However he was stressed out most of the time because he felt that ONLY HE could get things done. He was constantly studying his P&L and KPI reports wondering how to increase annual sales. So Danny did what alot of owner’s do - throw more money down on advertising. He began to see more traffic in the store and even heard the phones ring more. But that didn’t increase sales, how come? In fact, it was just the opposite - his employees struggled to handle the volume of customers and stress compiled.
What was going wrong? The answer was right in front of him. His employees were not effective communicators and weren’t given ALL the tools they need to be successful at their job.
The Solution
In order for Danny to grow his business he needed to shift his thought process and focus from price and technical data to one of “articulating commitments”. He didn’t realize that his business actually ran on language and that all the “#’s” he was studying were tied to a specific moment in time when people were communicating. He had no standards for effective communication or a model to teach his employees how to communicate effectively. And if he did, how would he analyze and measure each employee’s closing %? All
other areas of his business had specific guidelines and standards and ways to measure effectiveness, but not this important one.
The Results
In 2017 Danny Smith enrolled his company into Power Sales Training and he began to notice a immediate positive shift in the culture.
It was having an impact not only on his employees communication skills, but also how they show up in all areas of their life. He also had insight into the communication of his employees with the use of Call Tracking and Sales Call Analysis. Danny grew his business from $4 million to $15 million dollars in the 5 years working with Molloy Business Development. SameDay is currently opening its 7th store, and there
is a waiting list to work there. The entire organization has shifted to a commitment-based company that focuses on developing the communication skills of it’s employees and empowering them to be succesful.
Stress is a thing of the past for Danny and his crew.

Mclea's Tire & Automotive Centers
The Challenge
In 1979, Bill McLea opened the doors to McLea’s General Tire
in Sonoma County California. Over the course of the first 20 years,
McLea’s would grow into a thriving family-run business built on
creating long-lasting relationships with customers and employees.
They built a positive culture where customers and employees knew
they would be treated like family.
By 1996, Bill had decided it’s time to fish more and work less. It
was time for his son’s Les and Rick to take the reigns of the family
business. The transition was seamless, culture remained positive, and
sales consistently grew. The business was in a comfortable place, but
Les wasn’t. He felt the “squeeze” from competitors popping up all
around him. He said “we either get bigger or get run over”. And
get bigger he did, by 2001 McLea’s opened its second location,
and a third in 2003.
The three locations were performing to expectations but Les and
Rick always felt like there was something they could add to the
mix to continue to push the business forward. “How can we get
better... close more deals, and be more efficient”, thought Les.
The Solution
The McLea’s understood the importance of having great customer
service that created customer loyalty, but how do you teach that?
The source of stress that he and his employees felt was due to not having a simple model to teach them how to communicate effectively. And even if he did, how would he measure and analyze the results of his teachings with them in an effort to raise their
skills? The positive results in his business were directly tied to a moment in time when there was a commitment made through
effective communication. He began to realize that in order to be consistent at all locations, they would need a scalable model to teach
their employees how to communicate effectively.
The Results
In 2011, Les McLea enrolled his stores into Power Sales Training. He
empowered his son Darren to take over and drive this program - and
drive it he did! Power Sales Training and the language of commitment
began to have an impact not only on his employee’s communication
skills, but also on how they show up in all areas of their life.
Employees became more confident at their jobs, and therefore more
successful. This positive shift netted results in all areas of the business;
building customer loyalty, increased sales, and reducing stress for

everyone. The McLea’s were witnessing the business transform into
a commitment-based organization focused on helping customers.
With Sales Call Analysis and Call Tracking, Darren strengthened bonds with his employees in
listening sessions giving feedback on recorded calls where they could improve communication.
Employees took notice of the investment and priority the McLea’s were making in developing their
people. Employee recruitment and retention was no longer stressful for the McLea’s. Darren said,
“I could literally walk into a Chic-Filet and offer the checkout kid a job that they could be successful
at because I had the structure and model in place to teach them how to communicate effectively.”
By 2013, McLea’s had grown to 5 highly successful locations. The McLea family built an empire focused on improving the communication skills of its employees and making commitments to customers. In
2020, AAA made the McLea’s an offer to purchase all 5 locations that they could not refuse.
